Where to plug in the device that you want to control with the alarm panel

The lamp and small appliance module has two plugins – one on each side of the device. If you look at the two outlets on the device, you will see that one has a small sticker that says "Speaks Z-wave".

This is the side that can be controlled from the panel or the application. The other side that is not labelled, is always powered, and cannot be controlled from the panel or the application.

If the lamp module does not have power it will show as offline on the NorthStar Connect application. Make sure that the lamp module is plugged in, and that the outlet is working properly before completing the following steps.

1. Go to the alarm panel, and select the automation button.
2. Make sure that the lamp module can be controlled from the alarm panel by turning it off and on from the panel.
3. If the lamp module is not being displayed on the alarm panel, make sure that it is within 25 feet of the alarm panel. If it is not within 25 feet of the panel, you will need to move it closer to ensure proper communication with the alarm panel. Once the lamp module is within 25 feet of the panel and it is still not functioning, you may need to add it to the alarm panel again.

How to add an appliance module to the panel

1. Plug the lamp module into a working outlet within 25 feet of the panel, and ensure that it works by plugging a device into it and making sure that device will power on.
2. Go to the alarm panel.
   
3. Press the home button on the alarm panel to take you to the correct screen.
4. Press the automation button.
5. Scroll down by pressing the arrow on the right hand side of the screen.
6. Press the tools button at the upper left hand side of the screen.
7. Press the exclude devices button on the right hand side of the screen.
8. Wait for message on the panel to say "ready to exclude device". Press the function button on device.
9. Within one minute, go to the lamp module that is still plugged into the outlet, and press the button on the front of the device twice.
10. Come back to the alarm panel and make sure it says "device excluded".
11. Press ok.
12. Press the Include devices button on the panel. Wait for the message that says "ready to include device". Press the function button on device.
13. Within one minute, go to the lamp module that is still plugged into the outlet, and press the button on the front of the device twice.
14. Go back to the alarm panel, and make sure that it says device has been successfully added.
15. Now that the device has been added to the panel, you can check if functioning by using the panel to turn the device on and off.
